About Me – Jared Kiel


My name is Jared Kiel, I am a mechanical engineering / applied physics dual major, having attended Carroll University, Waukesha, WI and currently studying at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

I am pursuing this research opportunity as a creative engineer, specifically seeking opportunities in mechanical engineering, innovative technology, and human-centric design. My passion stems from diverse experiences in rapid prototyping technologies and new product development. My skills and expertise are working in 3D modeling programs and being able to work confidently and conceptually with Stratasys, Makerbot, and 3D print systems.

I dream to be part of the next generation of cutting edge technologies within the world’s best research and development departments. My interests are in Industrial mechanical design, biomedical equipment, and in the entertainment business as a CGI specialist or theme park support. Robotics for assistive technology is a relatively new field so in a way I would classify myself a pioneer of sorts, not afraid to develop a program from the ground floor up.

At this point I have been in academics and will consider a Master’s after working in Industry for some time. I feel it is important to gain real world experience and bring that to the table when I consider such a program.

In my free time I enjoy going for long runs, playing musical instruments, or learning / writing Chinese characters.

I am very excited to embark on this collaborative assignment; I am feverishly packing the necessities at this moment. See you all real soon!
