About Me – Erin Louwagie

My name is Erin. I am from Plymouth, Minnesota and am a junior in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. During the school year, I work as a peer tutor for freshmen in the College of Science and Engineering and I volunteer in a bioheat and mass transfer laboratory. Also, I am a member of the Society of Women Engineers and I play French horn in a woodwind quintet. I applied to this REU because I am fascinated by the role robots play in modern medicine. I plan to pursue a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. However, I don’t know what I will do after that, as I am interested in mechanical engineering as it relates to both medicine and renewable energy.
